Here’s how it works
We open at 7:30 p.m. and start the music at 8:00 p.m. The evening is generally divided into 15 minute slots with 2 categories:
Walk ups:
Come along on the night with your instrument and sign up onto the list for a slot between 8:00 and 9:30 p.m. allocated by the evening’s host. Sign up starts at 7:45 p.m.
Depending on numbers of people wanting to play you can get 2/3 or 4 song slots.
Pre-booked:
The host is responsible for scheduling 7 acts for the final section from 9:30 p.m. who get 15 minutes each. These people may be “out of towners”, specially invited guests or an act who has proved popular previously at the club and wants to stretch out!
Pre-Booking:
It is normal for players to come as a walk up to try the club, give contact details and then be asked by a host to be a pre-booked at a subsequent club night
What to play!
Anything you like! The club particularly admires original material so a great chance to give that self penned number an airing/test drive in front of a supportive crowd.
We get everything from Snow Patrol, Counting Crows, Blue Grass, Olde English Folke, Amerciana, Ry Cooder, JJ Cale, Show of Hands and if you are lucky : Ride a White Starman.
KIT
The club provides the mics, monitoring and PA. Bring your own instruments. n.b. there is normally a bass player who will let you use his amp! (always nice to buy him a pint in thanks!)
